Introduction

Throughout the past decade, digital marketers have struggled with browser plugins that adversely affect the tracking and targeting of website visitors. Justuno's Visibility Boost is a feature that ensures your Justuno experiences are always visible on your website.

How It Works

All popup blockers whether built into the browser or an extension/plugin operate the same way.

When a visitor lands on your website (www.yourdomain.com) the page immediately begins loading. Once that is complete, the page will instruct the browser to load scripts and assets from other domains (e.g. Google Analytics or Facebook's conversion pixel tracking).

A popup blocker engine recognizes the initial website load (www.yourdomain.com) and intercepts the subsequent attempt to load javascript files from googleads.g.doubleclick.net or connect.facebook.net respectively. This allows it to cross-reference these domains with various blacklist database to block domains identified as trackers.

Justuno's Visibility Boost feature enables all Justuno activity to be visible on your website via a subdomain to thwart these blockers. Effectively loading all Justuno-related files from your own custom subdomain. If your website is "www.yourdomain.com", your subdomain might look something like "ju.yourdomain.com" or any other subdomain of your choosing. Loading content from subdomains is a standard practice for website utilizing CDNs and has always been considered ethical.

Setup

IMPORTANT NOTE: Confirm the domain in your Account Settings matches that of your website's actual domain. If it does not, please update it before proceeding.

Step 1.
Navigate to your Account Settings page and click on Advanced Settings from the left menu.  *Only Full-Access and Admin team members have access to this area.*

Step 2.
Click the "Set Up Visibility Boost" button.

Step 3.

Input the subdomain you wish to use. This will be prefixed to your root domain - so if your root domain is "yourdomain.com" and you enter "ju" in the subdomain field, the domain that will be used to load all Justuno files from will be "https://ju.yourdomain.com".

Step 4.
Next you will need to add a CNAME record to your DNS provider for the root domain. There are many DNS providers - usually this is where you purchased your domain from, your website host or another service like Cloudflare.

Below are the settings to add to your DNS service to create the CNAME:

  • The CNAME/subdomain is what you entered in the initial screen from Step 3
  • The CNAME destination is fallback.justuno.ai

Generally these two inputs are the only items you need to add to your DNS CNAME record.

Step 5.

Lastly, review and verify you have created the CNAME DNS record. This screen will check in realtime if the DNS server for your domain is responding correctly with the new settings.

Note: Some DNS servers may take up to 20 minutes to propagate changes.

If verification fails or you do not yet have access to your DNS server settings you may retry verification at a later time.

You may also confirm whether your new subdomain is live by going to:

https://ju.yourdomain.com/embed/ju_init.js

*Replace ju.yourdomain.com with your new subdomain address.*

Some Final Remarks:

Depending on your ecommerce platform an additional step may be required.

You should be all set once your domain is verified.
  • Bigcommerce App Installs (non-headless)
